Polytechnic High School

Polytechnic High School

San Francisco, California

Welcome

Welcome to the website dedicated to Polytechnic High School in San Francisco, CA. This exceptional secondary school was open for almost 90 years from the late 19th Century until the early 1970s. Over that time the school created a reputation for a cosmopolitan, diverse and talented student body, inspirational teachers and administrators, and exceptional football teams.

This website was created by former students, some of whom were a part of that talented student body, others of us just plodded along and got through high school anyway. Our website is a work in progress. In fact what’s here now is just the start of the site. Not much content yet but always growing. A lot of information on the history of Poly has been collected and is being correlated into coherent form.

The layout is pretty simple. This opening page presents you with the decades of Poly’s existence. Each decade can be clicked and will lead you to a page with yearbook covers from the chosen decade. Clicking the covers (some in operation now) will lead to a page of information about Polytechnic High School that year and other period minutiae. At the bottom of the each page are links that will lead to a comprehensive index of all information on the website, a current “What’s New” of data recently added, and an email link to web designer.
